SAC Nominations...
We have 6 nominees for the Fall Elections for Staff Advisory Council. Ballots have been mailed out and hopefully you already have them. These will be due back by September 15th, thru campus mail, so please take a minute, vote and drop them back in the mail!! There will be 3 vacancies to fill: Ken Brooks, Bill Martin and myself. We are delighted that Bill decided to run again as he has been a big asset to this group! Ken Brooks only served one year since he was finishing someone elses term, and feels his future work load won't allow him enough time to serve again, but we have really enjoyed having him. I also finished up someones term which resulted in 4 years of service for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the council and putting out the Newsletter, but it is time to move on and let others give it a go.

The Nominees for Elections are: Rusty Crawford with AITS, Mary Ann Ihler with Planning and Budget, Jennifer Lorenz with MOREnet, Bill Martin with MOREnet, Amy McKenzie with Central Payroll, and Debbie Taylor with the Treasurer's Office. Please be sure to vote and send the ballots back before you forget!

Staff Awareness...United Way
United Way efforts are about to get under way again and since the System usually does our Day of Caring at the Central Missouri Food Bank I thought you might be interested in some of the upcoming events to help that cause.

U.S. Cellular is giving Columbia, Hannibal, Jefferson City, Moberly and Kirksville residents who take advantage of wireless number portability (WNP), a way to recycle retired wireless phones for a good cause. Industry experts predict millions of phones will be cast aside because consumers nationwide now have the option of changing service providers while retaining their original wireless phone number. To give consumers a way to safely dispose of those unused phones and support Central Missouri Food Bank U.S. Cellular is re-launching its C.A.R.E. SM (Community Action Recycling Effort SM ) program in Columbia and other select cities nationwide. Missouri Tigers are participating in Score Against Hunger again this year! Read all about last years' numbers and plans for this year at: http://www.centralmofoodbank.org/campaigns/score/

The System Marketing Commitee for United Way is making plans for our big fund raiser for United Way. We will be taking tours through the new Paige Arena! Mark your calendars for October 27th and 28th and look for more information soon!!

Also, the United Way Agency Tours are scheduled for September 14th and 15th. Tours will begin at 8:30am leaving from the front circle drive of the Reynolds Alumni Center, returning at 11:30am. The agencies that will be toured include Rainbow House, Central Missouri Food Bank, Nora Steward Nursery School, the Family Health Center and Eldercare located in Clark Hall. If you would like to sign up for this please contact Phil Harrrison, 882-7724.

Editor's Corner! Farewell from Donna...
This is probably the last Newsletter I will be doing, but I wanted everyone to know how much I have enjoyed doing this and serving on the council. I've met new people and learned more about how the UM System operates. I have also really enjoyed having a part in bringing the Staff Appreciation Week activities to the staff members. I hope all of you have had as much fun attending as we did putting those activities together for you.

Staff Advisory Council meetings are open to all UM System Staff. Meeting times are 9:00am-11:00am the second Wednesday of the month. The location for this year is the Locust Street Building in one of their conference rooms.
