President on pertinent issues. If you have comments
or questions about any subject related to UM System staff, please contact
one of your Council members. They are there for you!

Words from the Chair

Staff Recognition Week (SRW) is scheduled the week of May 12-16, 2008.  Mark your calendars now for the fun activities.  

Trivia Day (Tuesday, May 13)
Staff Appreciation Luncheon (Thursday, May 15)
Picnic (Friday, May 16)

You can officially submit award nominations starting February 5 for
Service/Support Award (non-exempt employees below the level of director)
Administrative/Professional Award (exempt employees below the level of director)
Administrator Award (employees classified as executive level in the position between and including Director and Associate/Assistant Vice President are eligible)
President's Award (top ranked nominations from each category are submitted to the President of the University for this award).

to access the “nomination form” and get the details/guidelines for the nomination.  Your nomination can be submitted via the web or you can print a form and mail to
SRW Nomination Awards, 104 University Hall, Columbia, MO 65211.

The purpose of Staff Recognition Week is to recognize your service to the University.  If you know someone who has shown exemplary service to the University, please nominate them for one of the awards.  As a reminder, there are monetary rewards with the awards.  The nomination form is on the SAC website - http://sac.umsystem.edu/ located behind the Staff Recognition Week link.  The deadline for nominations is February 18, 2008.  Feel free to scroll down to the online version of the nomination form and submit. Check the SAC website @ http://sac.umsystem.edu/ and future newsletters for dates, times, and sign-up information for the SRW 2008 activities.

As always, we thank you for your ideas and ask that you continue to use the "Suggestion Box" located at http://sac.umsystem.edu/suggestion/index.php to express any ideas/suggestions/thoughts that may be on your mind.  We welcome all ideas for improvement and will gladly take concerns to the appropriate office. Our next regularly scheduled SAC meeting is Friday, February 8, 2008 in room 225 University Hall at 8:30 a.m.

Shape Up Missouri

The Show-Me STATE GAMES and the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health will be working together to lead a challenge for all Missourians to live healthier lifestyles. Adults can participate in Shape Up Missouri by choosing from several challenges. Students can participate through schools in a free youth program.

Staff Advisory Council meetings are open to all UM System Staff. Meeting times are 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. the second Friday of the month. The location of each meeting changes, so contact a council
member if you are interested in attending.
