Words from the Chair

Happy New Year!

WOW! Is it already 2007? It seems like yesterday that we were all concerned with Y2K. How many of you held your breath that first moment after that New Year was brought in?

With the start of a new year upon us, most of us will choose to make at least one resolution. I still haven't narrowed my personal list down. I'm not sure if that is a good sign as to what success I might expect this year! UM SAC has made its resolution this year - each member has resolved to make this the best year yet. Let us know what we can do for YOU!

In an earlier newsletter last fall, I mentioned that UM SAC would make available an on-line survey regarding the annual Staff Recognition Week (SRW). We have decided to have this posted to our website immediately following this year's festivities. Please take the time to respond - your feedback is instrumental in allowing us to improve upon SRW.

All staff are invited to attend our SAC meetings. If you cannot attend but would like to share a comment, concern, suggestion, etc., please email or call one of the UM SAC members so that it can be added to our agenda. Warm regards, Rusty

UM SAC Chair Rusty Crawford

  • Thomas E. Atkins Wellness Program

The Wellness Program at the University of Missouri has been named the “Thomas E. Atkins Wellness Program". The board approved the naming the program at the December 2006 board meeting to honor Curator Tom Atkins for his service to the University of Missouri community as well as the State of Missouri. During his tenure as a curator, Atkins championed the establishment of a wellness program at the University to serve faculty, staff and students.

Atkins remains a strong supporter of the program and the belief that health and productivity are inextricably linked. The program began at University of Missouri Health Care with a long-range goal of including all campuses.
