UM Staff Advisory Council Members 2007-2008

Words from the Chair

Greetings!
I would like to thank those individuals who agreed to be considered for this year's vacancies on our UM Staff Advisory Council.  We had two nominations in the exempt category and two nominations in the non-exempt category.  We had the exact number of nominees needed for vacancies on the council.  Newly elected council members Karla Dowd, Joan Goodwin, Beth Perrin, and Amy Andrews are ready to start a new adventure with the council starting October 2008.  When you see these new committee members, congratulate them in their new role as representing you, the employees of UM System.  Their bios are featured in this newsletter.

UM participated in United Way "Day of Caring" on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Central Missouri Food Bank. This was a fun day with colleagues supporting our community by giving of our time, making a difference in lives via packaging food items, and a rewarding day knowing that we have given back to those in need. In addition to participating by pledging dollars to United Way with our pledge cards, the UM Staff Advisory Council is promoting "GO-GREEN" bags as a fundraiser. All profit from bag sales go directly to Heart of Missouri United Way. Check out the promotion below. Go Green bags are available now for purchase bags.

The next scheduled SAC meeting is Friday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m. in the 321 Conference Room, University Hall.  As always, we welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions.  Please join us if you can. We are here for YOU!

Warm regards,
Mary Ann

Laptop Computer Donations

Staff Awareness - Hospitality Services seeks laptop computer donations
The Hospitality Services department at University Hospital and Children’s Hospital has a laptop lending service for long-term hospital patients. With the use of a laptop, patients are able to maintain their office work or schoolwork during prolonged stays in the hospital. Donated laptops do have to be in working condition sufficient to web surf.
All donated laptops will have their hard drives wiped clean
before being lent to patients.
"If your office is upgrading to a new laptop and had plans to surplus the old laptop, please give Hospitality Services at University Hospital and Children's Hospital a call before sending to campus surplus," said Pete Goodman, Hospitality Services supervisor.
For more information or to donate a laptop computer, please call Goodman at (573) 882- 6169 or e-mail goodmanp@health.missouri.edu
